Maybe You've Noticed ...

Community is our middle name. We're a vibrant congregation of everyday people who come together in many ways—in learning and faith, in raising kids and strengthening marriages, and in discovering the kind of life God desires for each of us.

What keeps us energized is
our vision to become:

A congregation mobilized in service to ...
transform our community
elevate the urban poor and
impact our nation and world
... for Christ.

We come from a variety of backgrounds—including Presbyterian, Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal, Pentecostal and others. We also welcome many people who have no previous participation in a church and who are exploring Christianity for the first time.

More important than all these labels, we simply do our best to follow the teaching and example of Jesus Christ. Therefore our calling and purpose is Christ-centered. We strive to exalt Christ in all we do. We seek to bring people to Christ, bond them together and build them up in Christ. And we send people into ministry for Christ.

Mind you, we’re not perfect, and the world around us isn’t either. So we try to have a sense of humor about life’s little quirks, a spirit of grace and growth when we mess up, and a call to social justice and compassion in the larger issues of our time.

The more you get involved at Cherry Hills Community Church, the more you’ll experience how our faith in Christ shapes what we do. If you’re looking for a church home—a place to belong and a place to grow—we hope you’ll join us.

What We're Known For

Over the years we've developed our own character and personality as a church. Here are some of the things you'll discover about Cherry Hills. Select the Ministries link from the top menu bar to learn more.

Dr. Jim Dixon, Senior Pastor

As senior pastor since Cherry Hills Community Church was established in 1982, Jim Dixon has become a respected scholar and teacher. Because Jim is an avid reader, history buff and movie fan, you’ll find his Sunday messages peppered with interesting anecdotes to translate God’s truth from the Scriptures to everyday life.

Children

Our Grace Place children’s ministry offers a kid-friendly version of our Sunday experience—complete with music, drama and Bible lessons for preschool through grade 5. The Grace Place nursery welcomes the littlest members of your family. Grace Place also offers an array of weekday programs and special events in a fun and spiritually nurturing environment.

Adults

Cherry Hills offers many ministries that encourage adults to cultivate their spiritual life, while at the same time providing friendship and support from others who share a similar life stage or interests. Men and women, single or married, are invited to join in small groups, Bible studies, seminars on marriage and relationships, family get-aways, volunteer service, mission teams and more.

Music

At Cherry Hills, you’ll discover a great variety of music—from gospel to classical, pop to traditional. On Sundays, our vocalists, choir and band lead us in exploring styles from gospel to classical, pop to traditional. We also enjoy video imagery, dance, reader’s theater and other expressions that offer refreshing ways to connect with God. We’re grateful for the opportunity to host Denver’s largest outdoor Easter celebration at Coors Amphitheatre.

Youth

Junior and senior high school students connect in Liquid, our ministry for grades 6–12. In large gatherings on Sundays and small groups on Wednesdays, students explore faith in Christ through the life and language of their generation. Mission projects and mountain retreats provide additional opportunities for growth and friendship.

Missions & Outreach

We express our commitment to the gospel both locally and globally. Over the years, we’ve partnered with 5 Denver congregations and various city ministries seeking to elevate the urban poor through food banks, tutoring, transitional housing and other neighborhood initiatives. Many from Cherry Hills have traveled around the world with Discover the World short-term mission teams that complement our long-term work with 69 missionaries and ministries in 55 countries.
